Description

In this series of workshops, Suzy Daw, physiotherapist and movement teacher, will explore a range of physiotherapy techniques specifically adapted for the needs of the massage therapist. You will gain a solid theoretical and hands on introduction to techniques that really work in clinical practice for the treatment and rehabilitation of pain conditions. Techniques covered on each workshop include:

  1. Anatomy review
  2. Common pain problems in the area
  3. Orthopedic assessment tools to help towards making a diagnosis including active, passive and resisted and special tests
  4. Knowing when to refer on to other disciplines e.g. Physiotherapist, GP, Consultant or further investigations, steroid injection etc.
  5. Effective Physiotherapy Mobilisation techniques. Mobilisations are oscillatory movements that are performed with a certain rhythm and ratio to help relieve pain, reduce inflammation, reduce stiffness and help restore normal movement and healing to the musculoskeletal system.
  6. Accessory movements: Small amplitude mobilisations close to the joint designed to help restore joint motion throughout its ranges. Especially effective for ligamentous injuries and capsular tightness. These effective techniques also support the release of adhesions, reducing and relieving stiffness and help to restore normal range of movement and reduce pain.
  7. Effective rehabilitation exercises
