Hi, I'm Matt, owner of Deep Impact Massage – based in Challenge Gym, Bishop’s Stortford, Hertfordshire.

I am an experienced professional male clinical massage therapist.

I employ the Jing method for treating chronic pain (the ouch that doesn't go away easily), using a variety of specialisms, namely: table shiatsu (Amma), myofascial release, trigger point therapy, deep tissue work, muscle energy techniques (a fancy term for specific stretching styles), and ischemic compression methods. If none of that made any sense, then I am more than happy to tell you all about my style in person or over the phone!

Before working in massage, I worked for Elsevier Science publishers. This experience helped me appreciate working in a stressful office-based environment. While working in publishing, I had my first experience of on-site massage (and probably should have realised my calling then!). I moved into working for the National Health Service’s Substance Misuse Team for seven years, and this experience helped me to better understand the challenges that many people face in their lives.

After retraining in massage, I set up a busy massage company in Hove, East Sussex, providing deep tissue massage therapies. While working in East Sussex, I volunteered at my local meditation centre. This experience helped me understand the growing need for compassion in our society, and also showed me the many different types of healing therapies available.

I'm a passionate health advocate and believe strongly in the power of human touch. I love to cycle and walk, and also love to cook. I'm very sociable with people from all walks of life, and am always attentive to others’ concerns.

I am a fully qualified Advanced Clinical Massage Therapist (Jing Advanced Massage Training), hold an Advanced Clinical Massage Therapy Certificate (Jing), and an ITEC Level III Diploma in Holistic Massage (Essentials for Health), and have a separate distinction in Anatomy and Physiology.
