Myofascial
Release Courses
MFR Foundation 6 Days
MFR Foundation is presented in two 3-day modules with time for integrating new techniques and 'feel' for the fascia between modules.
In the first module, 80% hands-on, we teach the
principles of MFR, the reasoning and physiology behind this modality,
and all the basic structural techniques from gross cross-hand
stretches through to focused release, scar tissue treatments and
rebounding as well as dural tube work and MFR 'from the inside
out'. We also introduce the concept of clients unwinding. After
this first module you will know how and when to apply each of
these techniques.
In the second module, when participants are familiar
with the basic techniques and have had hands-on experience with
their own clients we go more into the further application of techniques
with individual clients, and with clients as they are unwinding.
Knowing how to integrate several techniques with one move and
to both guide and follow a client's own natural unwinding is key
to success in MFR and the second module is therefore almost entirely
hands-on.

Introduction To Structural Fascial Bodywork (Direct Myofascial Release)
Structural Integration is a unique way of working with the body,
usually over a series of 10-12 sessions, to open and release
patterns of strain that develop in the body’s myofascial
web. Originally derived from Rolfing, the work has been developed
and popularized by several leading bodyworkers including Tom
Myers who has added new insights with his work on the Myofascial “trains” of the body.
This introductory workshop will give you an overview of this
exciting work including:
- Bodywork techniques and “tools” you can take
away and integrate into your existing practice
- Body reading:
recognising and making sense of patterns of compensation and
strain
- The difference between direct and indirect myofascial
work and how to combine both within your practice
- The importance
of “listening touch”, palpatory
sensitivity and body mechanics
- New insights into the anatomy
of the myofascial system

Introduction to Visceral Manipulation 2 days
This new and exciting course aims to introduce participants to the work of French osteopath Jean-Pierre Barral who noted the importance of organs' motion in maintaining their physiological function. He has developed gentle and precise techniques to locate and treat any restrictions that prevent this fullness of motion. The principles of these techniques are easy to learn and integrate into many body therapies.
This introductory weekend is suitable for any qualified bodyworkers and will focus on the organs of this abdominal cavity. This course is taught by Jo Crill, a Chartered Physiotherapist who has worked with these techniques for the last 9 years, studying with both the Upledger Institute and Jean-Pierre himself.
What you will get:
- an understanding of the importance of organ mobility and inherent movement or motility
- an introduction to the general listening and local listening techniques that help us to determine the precise location of restrictions
- an understanding of the basic concepts of how to treat visceral restrictions
- anatomical reviews to ensure you appreciate the size and position of each of the organs we will be working with
- techniques to treat the liver, kidney and cecum (first part of the large intestine)

One Day Courses
Myofascial Release for Fibromyalgia Syndrome and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
Myofascial Release for Fibromyalgia Syndrome and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is a one day course focusing on the benefits of MFR for clients with these syndromes. The day will be part theory, part hands-on, and will equip you to treat sufferers of these conditions sensitively and effectively.
Syllabus:
- What are fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome? Short history and etiology.
- What FMS and CFS mean for the individual sufferer in physical, emotional and
physiological terms
- How do these syndromes affect the fascia of the body?
- What effect does the state of the fascia have on the development or otherwise of these syndromes?
- Specific MFR techniques for FMS and CFS
- When and how to apply and adapt these techniques
- Case studies
Prerequisites: This
course if open to students who have completed the MFR Foundation
or the HMM Foundation course or if you have other Myofascial
experience.

Working With Trauma Through Bodywork (no pre-requisite;
open to all)
This course is for bodyworkers who are interested in supporting
their clients in safely releasing emotions held as a result of
trauma or excessive stress. This course will give you an understanding
of:
- The importance of therapeutic boundaries and client emotional
safety in all your bodywork
- Concerns, considerations and contra-indications
for working with trauma through bodywork
- The impact of trauma
upon the body and how bodywork can be the “missing
link” in achieving positive therapeutic outcomes
- Overview
of bodywork strategies for working with trauma
- How to help your
clients to integrate both the physiological reactions and the
emotions and memories associated with trauma with minimal risk
of re-traumatisation.
Based on the research and experience of the world’s leading
authorities on trauma resolution, as well as Anne and Rachel’s
combined clinical experience, this course combines cutting edge
science with common sense nurturing and client care.

MFR Unwinding (pre-requisite MFR Foundation)
Myofascial Release Unwinding is a one-day experiential workshop
to explore and develop unwinding and self-unwinding.
You will develop the practice of working as a member of a MFR
Multiple Hands Team both as assistant and leader of a team, and
of course you will experience an amazing multiple hands treatment
as part of the day. You will refine your proprioceptive sensitivity
and develop your hands-on skills both as sole practitioner and
working with multiple MFR practitioners. A fantastic opportunity
for personal growth on both individual and professional levels
under the supervision and guidance of experienced tutors.
MFR Masterclass (pre-requisite MFR Foundation)
A great opportunity to work with Rachel Fairweather, director and head trainer of Jing. The day will be specially tailored to the needs of participants who will be able to review existing material and refresh their skills as well as have the invaluable opportunity to gain new skills such as working with unwinding, rebounding and the clinical application of MFR.
