Certificate in Musculo-Skeletal Anatomy

Overview

This unique course aims to give massage therapists, bodyworkers and movement instructors the highest level of theoretical and practical mastery of musculo- skeletal anatomy. Using a variety of learning methods including palpation, lecture, visual aids and small group work we will cover in detail all the major bony and soft tissue structures of the body: bony landmarks, muscles, tendons, ligaments plus major associated structures including blood vessels, nerves and bursae. We will look in detail at muscle movement and how it relates practically to the body. This course will take anatomy out of the textbooks and give you a living, breathing 3 dimensional understanding of this wonderful subject -not just in your head but in your hands and heart.

This course will elevate your confidence and understanding of all bodywork technique in addition to enhancing your palpation skills and professional confidence.

You can take individual modules or follow the complete syllabus, with exam over 9 months.

Learning Environment and Examination

This course will be examined both theoretically and practically. Each month you will be tested on the previous months module; the course also includes a theoretical and practical midterm and final exam. Although taking the exams is not compulsory, it is highly recommended in order to cement your learning. The learning environment promises to be non - threatening, co-operative, supportive, stimulating and above all, fun.

1. Background anatomy information; anatomy of shoulder and arm (3 days)

2. Anatomy of Forearm and Hand (2 days)

3. Anatomy of Spine and Thorax (3 days)

4. Practical and theoretical review and experiential movement (2 days)

5. Midterm exam; Head, Neck and Face (2 days)

6. Pelvis and Thigh (3 days)

7. Leg and Foot (2 days)

8. Practical and theoretical review; putting it all together with experiential movement (2 days)

9. Final practical and theory exam and evening celebration! (1 day)

Pre-Requisites

Applicants will be expected to have an existing qualification in anatomy as related to a bodywork discipline (massage or other hands on bodywork, yoga, pilates etc). Completion of Jing Living Anatomy day and Holistic Medical Massage modules is not compulsory but will be extremely helpful to your learning.

Fees and Payment

Course fees are £250 for each 2 day module and £375 for each 3 day module payable each month on the first day of each module. VAT is included in the price. Deposit is £300.

Living Anatomy - 1 day - £85.00+VAT

This 1-day hands-on workshops is designed to get the knowledge out of the text book and into your hands.

You will learn:

The names, location and actions of all the vital muscles and bones in the body.
How to locate and palpate all the major muscles and bones in the body.
A greater understanding of how the muscles and bones create movement in the body.

Teaching promises to be creative and fun. Courses are helpful to any level of practitioner.
